A Halloween Wedding

My sister, Jade has always been supporting of my career choices and one day, she went "Hey sistah, plan my wedding!". I was over the moon! So the details were as follows:

Date: 31/10/2009

Location: Holiday Inn Hotel

The moment my sister said 31/10/2009, I said “Isn’t it on Halloween?” Then we both went straight into thinking themes. My sister said , “Oh let’s all wear costumes!”. The idea was there but we had to make it more grand than just costumes. Seeing my sister is Christian-Chinese, I knew her dream wedding would be something “white” (please see below for my “Jacyln Made-Up-Marketing Phrases!”).

So the idea came up with big flashing lights “Hollywood Glam”.

The idea was for guest to be invited in with a beautiful long red carpet, and at the end waiting for them is a light gold backdrop designed with logos of my sister’s and husband’s names in checked form.

Upon ‘arriving’ on the elevated stand and gold backdrop. I hired a few amateur photographers and screaming “fans” to be taking photos and cheering – the main point was to basically make it like you’re walking the Hollywood Red Carpet!

And upon ‘checking’ themselves at the registration table, they will be given a sweet pink movie ticket, with the seat number representing the table they were to sit in, and the movie title would be the table movie theme. Each table has a movie theme which revolves around a famous classic love story, i.e. The Notebook, 50 First Dates, et cetera. Each table has also a stand holding up a picture of each movie poster.

After a cocktail or two in the foyer, the remaining guests would be ushered in and seated. Upon seating, they will also be greeted by a traditional wedding must – The Door Gift. But having a sister with an overly imaginative mind must have its perks, or well I wish my sister thinks that highly of me!~ The door gift designed was in shaped of a popcorn box! And I placed the same logo as on the backdrop on top of each box. Inside, a pair of teddy bears dressed in a cute western wedding style attire.

And as the light dimmed, and the spotlights pointed to the main door, the music burst out “Beat It!” and swooshed, dancing from afar is a look-a-like of Michael Jackson!

As I finished fantasizing the theme with my sister, I asked her, “So what do you think sistah?” And she went “It sounds great!

And well, for all those who were wondering how it went? It went exactly like how my sister said it “It was absolutely great!” (Well ok, I added the “Absolutely” :) )

A special thanks to my family members who have helped greatly in this wedding and of courses special kudos to Holiday Inn Hotel for the food presentation (because I have to admit, the Michael Jackson dancing was their idea! :))

Also, I would love to share this video of my sister's wedding, absolutely beautiful.
